Two nights ago I broke out into a horrendous case of hives. I've never gotten hives before in my entire life. It started with some mild itching and redness on my neck in the afternoon, and like a dummy I scratched it and it spread. I'm 90% sure the culprit is this ratty old blanket that I used while taking a during said afternoon, as it was in our basement and probably ridden with dust mites and who knows what else. I could be wrong, because as far as I know I'm not allergic to anything....but I haven't changed my diet, detergent, soaps, etc...So that's all I can think of.
Anyway, the worst part is they keep cropping up, and then only at night. During the day the most I feel is a very mild, hardly noticeable itch but at night itchy welts start appearing, on my hands and then my arms, legs, torso and face. It's miserable! I wake up looking and feeling fine but at night it's pure torture. What can I do to get rid of these hives once and for all???Advice for a bad case of hives?
Take a strong antihistamine like Benadryl. There is also Benadryl lotions that you can put directly on the skin. Ice is also good to reduce swelling and stop itching. You can also try bathing in oat meal. Another thing I like for topical use is to bathe in vinegar.Advice for a bad case of hives?
I would say an antihistamine, however, I would go see a doctor if this is a continuing thing.
