Need advice in which service to use in fixing bad credit. a counseling firm or a law firm?

Don't use either of them! If you are willing to do a little footwork, you can do anything that either of these ';services'; can--for free.

First, know that no one, and I mean NO ONE, can actually fix your credit, except you.

Depending on your individual circumstances, this can take a lot or a little time to accomplish.

Get a copy of your credit report from all 3 bureaus. Dispute anything that is inaccurate.

Certain things cannot be removed from your credit report, unless they aren't true--judgements, bankruptcies and chargeoffs will stay on your report for 7-10 years, regardless of what you may have been promised by one of these service providers.

Make payment arrangements with lenders if you need to. Pay all of your bills on time, every time. It may take a few months or a few years to get your credit score high enough to get a great interest rate, or easy loan approvals.

The important thing is to take responsibility, for your financial situation and resolve to make it better. Some lessons are so hard to learn!!

I've been in a bad place myself, and am still not where I'd like to be. However, I am no longer hounded by creditors, and can now manage my finances in a way that has caused my credit score to inch up over the last couple of years.

Good luck to you!!Need advice in which service to use in fixing bad credit. a counseling firm or a law firm?
